I've stopped querying now. Oh, I still have quite a few on my list left but I need to focus on my writing. My writing is missing something and as much as I love my story and WANT to send it out into the world, it's too early now and I wish I had waited from the start. When we're in love, we want everyone to know it and know it NOW. But I'm not trying again until I feel it's ready. Until other people have read it and given their opinions and until...until...I don't know. But I need more time!
Until I fall in love with it all over again.
Yeah, I know the feeling. It's hard not to send it out while it's still burning in your mind. After my current round of edits, I know I'll have to put my project away for a few weeks and overcome the desire to send it out right away!

ReplyDeleteI did the same thing. It only took a few rejections for me to realize it wasn't ready. finally now, about 7 months later, I HOPE it's ready. It's so tough to know, and really easy to jump the gun. But hang in there. It'll be ready in good time. Sometimes, it's best just to dive back into your writing. Might help also to take a break from it and come back to it later. Good luck!
